Statistics a branch of mathematics dealing with the
collection, organization, summarization, and interpretation
of masses of numerical data.
2 Branches of Statistics
1. Descriptive statistics is a way to organize, represent and
describe a collection of data using tables, graphs, and
summary measures.
2. Inferential Statistics is used to interpret the meaning of
Descriptive statistics.
Measures of Central Tendency
Measures of central tendency help you find the middle, or
the average, of a dataset. The 3 most common measures of
central tendency are the mode, median, and mean.

 Mode: the most frequent value.

 Median: the middle number in an ordered dataset.
 Mean: the sum of all values divided by the total number of
values.
Examples.
Given the following list of data, find the
mean, median and mode.
1. 24, 25, 28, 31, 33, 33, 36, 42, 42, 48,
