    Pepsi was invented in 1893 as "Brad's Drink" by Caleb Bradham and was renamed Pepsi-Cola in 1898 where it was advertised to relieve dyspepsia. In 1940, Pepsi began price competition with Coca-Cola using advertisements promoting double the amount for the same nickel price. In 1992, there was a riot in the Philippines that caused five deaths after Pepsi accidentally printed 800,000 extra bottles for a promotion that was supposed to have only one million peso winning bottle with the number 349.
