COPING STRATEGIES OF BSED TLE STUDENTS FOR

INADEQUACY OF SCHOOL LABORATORY FACILITIES


IN EVSU – OCC
CONTEXT AND RATIONALE
Education is a preparation for a bright
future. Achievements depend upon individuals’ training, on
the environment and the facilities that university
can provide. School laboratory is very important
on the part of the students. It
is very helpful to develop the learning
and skills of an individual.
At EVSU – OCC, it is a fact
that in spite being a good institution,
inadequate laboratory facilities that greatly contribute to
the students learning, one of the problems
the students face in the Technology and
Livelihood Education (TLE) Course. But spite of
this, still many of the students passed.
INNOVATION, INTERVENTION & STRATEGY
 individuals prefer to deal directly with the
stress by confronting, controlling, or managing the
source of stress - Lenz(2010, p. 69)
 active coping as the process of taking
active steps to try to remove or
circumvent stressor or to ameliorate its effects
-Carver, Scheier, and Weintraub (1989, p. 268)
 there are two major types of coping
strategies: approach coping style done by logical
analysis and avoidance coping style done by
seeking new resources of satisfaction- (Moos, 1993)

 coping skills as the ability to apply


strategies that minimize and manage the stress
response -Earnest and Dwyer (2010, p. 3)
 coping strategies is composed of both cognition and behaviors that
directed at managing problems and negative emotions it
brings( Aldwin. 2007)

 there are different types of coping style,


and the two major methods are problem-focused
and emotion-focused coping(Aspinwall & Taylor,1992)

 coping strategies helped students academics(Sullivian, 2010)


ACTION RESEARCH QUESTIONS
1. What are the coping strategies of BSED
TLE students for inadequacy of school laboratory
facilities in EVSU – OCC?
2. What is the level of the academic
performance of the BSED TLE students?
3. Is there correlation between,coping strategies and
their academic performance of BSED TLE students?
Action Research Methods
 descriptive method of research or “statistical research”
 type of instrument used is survey questionnaire
 3rd and 4th year BSED-TLE students
 a survey will be conducted among 3rd
and 4th year BSED-TLE students of EVSU-OCC
 the data will be collected and analyzed
