AIRPORT ARRIVAL
Guidelines for arriving at Changi Airport, Singapore.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO
REMEMBER…
 Switch off Data Roaming services on your Indian SIM card.

 Always keep your Passport and Visa Letter with you. Don’t even hand it to your co-passenger.

 Don’t lose the baggage slip that was given to you during check-in, along with your boarding pass. Best
to stick it on to your boarding pass.

 Don’t exceed Duty Free allowance. Prohibited substances include Posto, chewing gum. If in doubt, ask
me before travelling.

 I recommend taking seats A. That would be window seat, on the left side of the aircraft. While landing,
you might get a good view of the city.

 If ever required, feel free to ask an Attendant for Assistance. 7

BEFORE LANDING
 Before deboarding, collect Disembarkation Card (see right)
from flight crew. They normally distribute this well in advance
of landing. Best to fill it up while you are still in air. Will
explain the black circle later when explaining Immigration….

 Before deboarding, the flight crew will also announce the

baggage belt number for you to collect your check-in baggage.
If you miss the announcement, you can ask them when leaving
the aircraft.

 For COVID safe measures, this may not be applicable right

now as declarations are digital, so FYI only.

8
AFTER LANDING
 You will exit the aircraft, go via an aerobridge into the
airport terminal. You will be at L2 (level 2) of the
building

 Once inside, check for the “Arrival” sign. It will look

like as shown on the right. Yellow Text on black.
Follow the Arrivals signs.

 You might have to walk a long way, so feel free to use

the travellators, safely.

 Always remember, if you are lost just follow the Arrivals sign…. It
will take you the right way.

 You will need to head towards Immigration counters now. The

Immigration counters are downstairs in L1 (level 1). Look for the sign

 See those people queueing up? Stand behind any
queue. Keep you boarding pass, visa letter,
disembarkation card and my personal details ready.
 In case you have lost or forgotten the
Disembarkation Card, not to worry. On one side of
the Hall, you’ll see a counter with Disembarkation
Cards. They are categorised in many languages, so
pick one in English.
 Once at the Visa Officer’s desk, they’ll do the

needful. If asked for a purpose of visit, you can give
my details and say that you are emigrating. You’ll see some people head towards the PINK automated gates. Those are for Singapore
 The Visa Officer will give you back one half of the Residents only. You can’t use them so don’t go there.
Also, do you see that big counter on the right? Those are for special assistance and further
Disembarkation Card (remember the black circled
checks, if required. You may be asked to do there, since you are arriving as a Long Term
part in the photo? That part). DON’T lose this. Pass holder, for the first time.
You’ll need this when leaving Singapore. 11
BAGGAGE
 Once you clear Immigration, you will arrive
straight at the Baggage Claim carousels.

 The carousels will have sign boards on top, with

the flight details.

 Collect your checked in baggage. Make sure to

match your baggage slip with the tag on the
baggage.

 If your baggage is lost or damaged, ask any

attendant there to point you towards the Lost and
Found Counter. The counter will be tucked away
right behind the Baggage Claim area. 12
CUSTOMS
 Once you have collected your baggage, walk
towards the customs counter. You’ll clearly spot
them from the sign boards…. Customs written in
GREEN and RED.

 Follow the GREEN channel, as you have nothing

to declare.

 Normally you’ll just walk straight through unless Further Info:

the Customs officer asks you to scan your bags.
If you did have goods with you that needed to be
declared, or needed duty paid on it, you would have
gone to the RED Channel. In this case you wont.

13
