Grammar – Singular and Plural​

Singular means one. A singular noun refers ​


to only one person, place or thing.

Plural means two or more than two. A


plural noun refers to more than one person,
place , or a thing.
Plural nouns
Most singular nouns form the plural by
adding -s.
Singular - Plural​
1. table - tables​
2. door - doors
3. book - books
4. parrot - parrots
We add -‘es’ to the words which end in
ch , sh, o, x, ss,s to make it plural.

Singular - Plural​​
1. match - matches
2. dress - dresses
3. box - boxes

4. bus - buses
For nouns that end in - fe or –f, we
change – fe or –f to – v and add - es

1. shelf - shelves
2. knife - knives
3. wolf - wolves
4. half - halves
