INTRODUCTION

• Knowledge management (KM) is the process of identifying,

organizing, storing and disseminating information within an
organization. When knowledge is not easily accessible within
an organization, it can be incredibly costly to a business as
valuable time is spent seeking out relevant information versus
completing outcome-focused tasks.
MEANING AND DEFINATION
• MEANING
A knowledge management system (KMS) harnesses the collective knowledge of the organization, leading
to better operational efficiencies. These systems are supported by the use of a knowledge base. They are
usually critical to successful knowledge management, providing a centralized place to store information and
access it readily.

• DEFINATION
NEED OF THE STUDY

• Organizations that effectively gather, store and share knowledge can

encourage a culture of collaboration and curiosity. In turn, they see
improved efficiency and employee satisfaction. An effective
knowledge management system streamlines company knowledge while
making it accessible to everyone.
• When knowledge-sharing barriers are removed, employees move
beyond silos and discover who else has valuable information about a
topic. And when organizations connect those subject matter experts
with co-workers who need their expertise, teams are empowered to
challenge the status quo and find innovative solutions to unique
problems.
• Hence, the project aims at understanding the Knowledge Management
Strategies adopted by TECUMSEH INDIA PVT LTD

REVIEW OF LITERATURE

• The classic one-line definition of Knowledge Management was offered up by

Tom Davenport early on (Davenport, 1994): “Knowledge Management is the
process of capturing, distributing, and effectively using knowledge.” Probably
no better or more succinct single-line definition has appeared since.

• A few years after the Davenport definition, the Gartner Group created
another definition of KM, which has become the most frequently cited one
(Duhon, 1998), and it is given below:

• "Knowledge management is a discipline that promotes an integrated approach

to identifying, capturing, evaluating, retrieving, and sharing all of an
enterprise's information assets. These assets may include databases,
documents, policies, procedures, and previously un-captured expertise and
experience in individual workers."

INDUSTRY PROFILE

• The Indian refrigerator industry is largely driven by

the demand for refrigerators with capacities
between 200 and 499 litres, which account for more
than 63% of the total revenue generation. This is
mainly due to the fact that these capacity ranges are
ideal for most urban households and cater to their
needs for storage and cooling requirements. The
rapid urbanization in India has led to a significant
increase in demand for refrigerators with larger
capacity ranges, as consumers are looking for
bigger and more efficient models to store food and
beverage items.
