What is ICT?
 Information and Communications Technology
(ICT) refers to all the technology used to
handle telecommunications, stresses the role
of communication, broadcast media,
intelligent building management systems,
audio visual processing, and transmission
systems, and network-based control and
monitoring functions.
 The broadness of ICT covers any product
that will store, retrieve, manipulate,
transmit, or receive information
electronically in a digital form, e.g. personal
computers, digital television, email,
communication devices.
The Function of ICT
 There is a growing demand for educational
institutions to use ICT to teach the skills and
knowledge students need for the 21st
century.

 They perceived the Internet as their primary


resource for seeking various sets of
information.
ICT FOR BUSINESS AND
ORGANIZATIONS
 Businessand Government organizations
use ICT to:
◦ improve the service delivery to customers
◦ improve organization’s responsiveness to new
developments,
◦ change the basis of competition in the
industry,
◦ Improve Organization’s overall performance
ICT FOR EDUCATION
 Educational institutions try to restructure
their educational curricula and classroom
facilities, in order to bridge the existing
technology gap in teaching and learning.
ICT for Individual
 To gratify their information needs
 Increase their social networks and

connections
 Maintain their proper relationship with their

love ones and improved the way they make


things work in their daily lives.
