Respiratory System
Respiratory System
I.
NOSE/NASAL CAVITY
The nose serves as the passageway
of air into the body. As the air
passes through the nasal cavity, the
mucus and cilia found inside it will
filter, warm and moisten the air
from the foreign objects that it
carries.
BACK
PHARYNX
It is the common passageway of air,
foods and liquids.
The flap of muscle called the
epiglottis prevents food and liquid
from going in to the respiratory
system.

FIRST QUARTER/ WEEK 1/LESSON 1
II. Materials:
- Bunch of grapes/ malunggay leaves
- Paper -Pen-Ruler -Scotch tape
Activity #1 Parts and Function of the Respiratory System
III.A. Procedure:
1. Compare the parts of the malunggay stalk with the parts of
the respiratory system.
2. Locate the parts of the respiratory system using the clues
below:
1. Trachea – main branch
2. Bronchi – two branching stems
3. Bronchioles – small stems that holds the grapes/leaves
4. Alveoli – fruit/ leaf
Guide Questions:
Q1. What does each part of the “Bunch of
Grapes” model represent, in relation to the
breathing system?
Q2. How will you describe the pathway of
oxygen in the breathing system?
Q3. What will happen if one part of the system
fails to carry out its function properly?
Main Stem - Trachea
2 branching stems
- Bronchi
Leaves- Alveoli
Activity # 1 Parts and Function of the Respiratory System
III.B. Procedure:
1. Refer to the diagram, and
check your understanding of
the breathing system by
labeling each part and giving
its functions in the box
corresponding to the part.
