SAMPLE ANSWER.
In addition to the earlier viewpoint, it is evident that international
travellers, upon/when visiting cultural relics/ heritage sites, often
contribute to the development of economy by consuming relating
types of goods sold around the said venues. The desire to bring
back some remembrances of the trip would propel/drive them to
purchase various types of souvenirs, or engage in/ partake in
different cultural activities including eating out at local eateries/
restaurants and participating in art shows. These actions would
directly constitute to the betterment of the indeginous/local
people’s lives and eventually the state of economy of the region.
SAMPLE ESSAY
Opening – Full Paragraph

A school of thoughts has long suggested to

introduce a surcharge applied on the entrance
cost for international travellers upon visiting
tourist destinations. While this may work to a
certain extent, I strongly believe implementing
this policy would bring more harm than good.
Body 1 – Full Paragraph

First, it is understandable why this recommendation tend to

receive significant supports. Since many still perceive foreign
visitors, especially those from developed nations, to possess
greater financial wealth compared to the native, it is natural
for them to be charged higher when making a visit to local
heritage sites. For most, it can be deemed as a form of
contribution to the reservation and renovation of these
cultural relics. Additionally, a surplus in fees for travellers
from abroad would generate directly more income to those
residing in the vicinity of these venues by providing more
employment opportunities.
Body 2 – Full Paragraph

However, implementing this surcharge can result in a

massive decrease in the number of tourists frequenting the
historical sites. Upon realising the surge, it is common for
the tourists to feel a great sense of injustice toward this
often perceived unfair and discriminating treatment,
preventing them from future re-visits, effectively affect
negatively the economy of the surrounding region.
Furthermore, foreign travellers have already contributed
to the local economy in various different forms notably
consuming souvenirs sold at the destinations and dining at
local eateries.
Conclusion

To conclude, both foreign and local tourists should

be charged equally when entering tourist destinations. This
would not only ensure economic development for the
region but can also project good image of the local people’s
hospitality.
