ECONOMIC PLANNING AND POLICY

In both theory and reality, the Philippines has historically had a private enterprise economy.
Government intervention was primarily made through the use of fiscal and monetary policy
as well as its regulatory power. Even though public sector businesses expanded during the
Marcos administration, direct government involvement in the economy has typically been
minimal. Government-owned and government-controlled businesses were consolidated and
privatized as a significant policy effort by the Aquino administration. Economic planning
mainly consisted of setting macroeconomic objectives, such as macroeconomic growth
targets, planning and carrying out projects, and advising the government on how to allocate
capital funds for development initiatives.

community's economic vision and take control of your

residents with private and public sectors. Together you can
choose economic development goals and outline how to
accomplish those goals.

Fiscal policy is the use of government spending and taxation to

influence the economy. Governments typically use fiscal policy to
promote strong and sustainable growth and reduce poverty.

Privatization describes the process by which a piece of property or

business goes from being owned by the government to being
privately owned. It generally helps governments save money and

FILIPINO NATIONALISM

Filipino nationalism is the creation and promotion of a political identity linked to the
contemporary nation-state of the Philippines, which sparked a broad movement for the
country's political, social, and economic freedom. As a result of more than three centuries of
Spanish rule, this gradually arose from various armed and political activities over the
majority of the Spanish East Indies, although it has long been fractured and at odds with
modern definitions of such nationalism. These movements are distinguished by an increase
in anti-colonialist beliefs and feelings that culminated in the late 19th century and were
mostly driven by the ilustrado or landed, educated elites, whether peninsulares, insulares, or
natives (Indio).
