Proble
m space in the college?
Q. How to efficiently utilize the available

➢ There are many empty spaces available in the 4 corners of each floor and 2
mini auditorium which are too large to conduct any lectures but too small for
events.
➢ The canteen has big gaps between each row which can be minimized to adjust
an extra row for the students.
➢ The mini badminton court can be utilised to conduct other sports activities and
any outdoor events of the college.
Problem
Description
Large rooms like room no. 328, 327, 405, 406, 223, 310(A), 310 (B), etc. are not being
utilized efficiently as large classes are allotted to streams with higher number of
students. But as per the observation, students do not attend the lectures on the regular
basis i.e. there is rarely full attendance. Also 310 (A) & (B) are spacious but the
ventilation is not proper in those classes as there are no windows in those two classes.
The large classes can be divided into two and college can provide extra course as
classes will be available for it.
Root Cause
➢ Analysis
Large size, less accommodations - Some classrooms are large and spacious
with proper ventilation but it is less accommodated than it should be.
➢ Less options for degree courses - Due to mismanagement of space, no extra course
can be started by the college as there will be no sitting space for them which
eventually leads to limited admissions.
➢ Lack of proper ventilation - There few rooms with no proper ventilation facility.
Rooms like 310(A) & (B) have no windows plus less fans. Though the rooms are
large in size but cannot be utilized.
Root Cause
Analysis
➢ Lack of concentration - No proper ventilation facility leads to lack of
concentration during the lectures. It is also difficult for the teachers to teach in
such tight atmosphere.
➢ Less sitting in canteen area - As mentioned, the canteen area has big gaps
between each row which can be minimized to attach an extra row for the
students.
Solution
➢ s can be divided into two parts so that
The large classes with good ventilation
2 lectures can go on at a time.
➢ Renovation to have proper ventilation facility in classrooms with no windows.
➢ Air conditioner in classes with no windows would help for the ventilation
purpose.
➢ Gaps between the rows can be reduced to add one more row in large classrooms
as well as in canteen.

Implementatio
n
➢ A structured plan describing the layout of the classrooms will be presented to the
head of department, who will further reach out to the Principal.
➢ Along with that suggesting different courses that can be started in the college.
➢ Students facing the ventilation problem can sign a letter stating the difficulty
faced which will through a light on the issue.
➢ Through trial and error basis, extra benches can be added or subtracted or
a pictorial layout of canteen with adjusted extra benches.
➢ Air conditioner can also be suggested for better ventilation.
