4 Digit Numbers
A number is used to count, measure and label.
A word form that represents a number is
called a number name.

As there are 26 letters (a to z) in English but,

words formed using the letters, cannot be
counted.

In the same way there are 10 digits (0 to

9)but, numbers formed using those digits,
cannot be counted(infinity).

• To find the number count:

Number Count = {greatest number - smallest number} + 1
How many numbers are there from
a. 2 to 8
Sol: (8 – 2) + 1 = 6 + 1 = 7
b. 8 to 15
Sol: (15 – 8) + 1 = 7 + 1 = 8
c. 34 to 69
Sol: (69 – 34) + 1 = 35 + 1 = 36
d. 99 to 199
Sol: (199 – 99) + 1 = 100 + 1 = 101
e. 1 to 9
Sol: (9 – 1) + 1 = 8 + 1 = 9
f. 10 to 99
Sol: (99 – 10) + 1 = 89 + 1 = 90
