Chapter 25
• Q1: Dolphus Raymon carries a paper sack with a secret drink that he drinks with a straw
which might be weird to people, but it actually says a lot about him. This is shown in “ Secretly,
Miss Finch, I'm not much of a drinker, but you see they could never, never understand that I
live like I do because that's the way I want to live” This quote tells us that it just a pretend. It is like
a game he plays to make people think that he is always drunk. The paper sack with the drink is like
a disguise. It helps him hide from the towns judgements. He pretends he is drunk to watch people
in Maycomb treat people. Perhaps Lee is trying to tell us that people in Maycomb are quick to
judge people without knowing them.
