Natural

Calamities in the
Philippines
Here starts the Prepared by:

Philippines
The Philippines are located
at a latitude of 14° 34'
59.99" N and a longitude of
121° 00' 0.00" E. The
latitude of the Philippines
expresses the country's
location relative to the
equator. That said, the
Philippines is above the
Pacific Ring of Fire equator and part of the
northern hemisphere.
Natural
Calamities in
the Philippines
A natural calamities or disaster is "the
negative impact following an actual
occurrence of natural hazard in the
event that it significantly harms a
community".
A natural disaster can cause loss of life
or damage property, and typically
leaves some economic damage in its di a

wake.
Typhoon
A typhoon is a mature tropical
cyclone that develops between
180° and 100°E in the Northern
Hemisphere. This region is referred
to as the Northwestern Pacific
Basin, and is the most active
tropical cyclone basin on Earth,
accounting for almost one-third of
the world's annual tropical
cyclones.
Earthquak Earthquake is define as any sudden
shaking of the ground caused by the
e passage of seismic waves through
Earth’s rocks.
Seismic waves are produced when some
form of energy stored in Earth’s crust is
suddenly released, usually when masses
of rock straining against one another
suddenly fracture and “slip.”
Earthquakes occur most often along
geologic faults, narrow zones where rock
masses move in relation to one another.
The major fault lines of the world are
located at the fringes of the huge tectonic
plates that make up Earth’s crust.
Volcanoes
Eruption A volcanic eruption occurs
when magma is released
from a volcano. Volcanic
eruptions can be quite calm
and effusive, or they can be
explosive. Effusive eruptions
produce lava flows, while

confused with storm tide, which is
defined as the water level rise due to
the combination of storm surge and the
astronomical tide.

from a thunderstorm to the ground.
Because wind is invisible, it is hard
to see a tornado unless it forms a
condensation funnel made up of
water droplets, dust and debris.
Tornadoes can be among the most
violent phenomena of all
atmospheric storms we experience.
