YANKEE
STADIUM
Introduction
 Baseball has become a business more than only a game.
Many fans nowadays are looking for easy way to buy tickets
and watch game.
 To meet such needs of consumer, the New York Yankees
built the new Yankee stadium which opened on April 2, 2009
which is also known as, the stadium of future.
 The Yankee stadium is where the great babe Ruth played so it
is named as “The House That Ruth Built”.
 The original stadium seated 58000 and new seated 50287
 Yankee stadium has hosted 37 world series games more than
any other stadium ever.
Problems faced by Yankees
 By going through the case the problems that Yankees
faced are as follows;
 Increasing cost
i. The average tickets cost $510 and most expensive
cost $2600 each.
ii. Due to high cost the legend seat (most expensive)
remained empty during the time of game.
iii. which created embrassing image on television of the
seats behind home plate being completely vacant.
Problems faced by Yankees
 Declining customer base due to lack of
technology
i. Tickets sale for major league baseball games
were decreasing annually.
ii. It was because fans have increased team interest
in other ways.
iii. They preferred to use online medium to book
tickets and choose to watch the game on
television or through electronic medium.
Problems faced by Yankees
 Beside above mentioned problems others were
meeting global challenges, capturing opportunities
in the market places, increasing the quality of
services and goods.
Solutions
 For Yankee stadium, I found some of the challenges in
management, organization and technology so here are the
solutions for it
 Management
i. Monitor games and sales of tickets
ii. Implementation of new management techniques
iii. Good communication among all level managers to avoid
any miscommunication of information
iv. Managers must have strong vision about future and make
effective plans based on mistakes from past and increase
use of data available.
Solutions
 Organization
i. Redesign Yankee stadium to meet the expectation
of fans
ii. Expand sales channel through the use of new
technology
iii. Should hire trained and capable employee which
helps in the smooth running of the organization
iv. Organization policies must be effective in real life
process not only on paper.

 Technology
 Intensive use of video and computer technology
that includes:
a. Large numbers of high definition HDTV monitor
display, live game coverage, up to date sports
score, archival and highlight video, promotional
messages, weather and traffic updates
 Touch screen phones to buy food by audience
while watching the game
Solutions
 Develop their own website that provides services and
information like;
i. Tickets: allow to get online tickets
ii. Schedule: show scheduled date of match
iii. Score: provides scores of every match
iv. Video: upload short clip of matches
v. Roaster: provides information related to staff, coach,
and players
vi. Shop: allows fans to buy sports related items like
customized jerseys, hoodies, hats etc.
