What are printers?
• A printer is an output device that printer character symbol and
graphics on a paper.
• The printed output is called hard copy.
Types of printer:
• Different types of printer are as follow ;
• Impact printer
• Non impact printer
Impact printer:
• An impact printer work like a type writer.
• It printer character, or images by stricking a print Hammer or wheel
against an inked ribbon.
• Types of impact printer;
• Dot matrix printer.
• Daisy wheel printer.
Types of impact printer:

• Dot matrix printer:

• A dot matrix printer is a type of impact printer.
• It produce printed images when tiny pins on a print head strike with
an inked ribbon.
• It contain 9 to 24 pins.
• It does not provide high quality output.
• It produce a lot of noise while printing.
• It is less expensive.
Daisy wheel printer:
• Daisy wheel printer is similar to type writer.
• It uses print wheel.
• The print wheel is called daisy wheel.
• Dasiy wheel printer is slower then dot matrix .
• It keep better quality then dot matrix.
Non impact printer:
• A non impact printer print character and graphics on piece of paper
with out striking the paper.
• Some of these printer use spray ink while other use heat and pressure
to create image.
• Types of non impact:
• Laser printer.
• Inkjet printer.
Laser printer:
• Laser printer are non impact printer.
• Laser stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emissions of
Radiation.
• Density of laser printer is ranges from 300 to 2000 dots per inch
(DPI)
• The printing speed of laser printer is 5 to 300 pages per minute.
• It is also called page printer.
• It produce high quality.
Inkjet printer:
• An inkjet printer is a type of non impact .
• It print character and graphics by spraying tiny drop of liquid ink on
paper.
• It print character in multiple colors.
• These are slower then laser printer.
• It can print 1 to 6 pages per minute.
• It is less expensive.
