RITIGALA

This is a moutain located in central hill. Its


hight is 766 m (2,513 ft) above sea level,
and 600 m (2,000 ft) above the
surrounding plains, Ritigala is the highest
mountain in northern Sri Lanka
PIDURUTALAGALA
The tallest mountain in Sri Lanka, at 2,524 m
(8,281 ft). It is situated North-North-East from the
town of Nuwara Eliya and is easily visible from
most areas of the Central Province. Its summit is
home to the central communications array of the
Government of Sri Lanka and armed forces and
serves as an important point in the country's radar
system.
YAPAHUWA

It is also located in central hillIn 1272, King


Bhuvenakabahu transferred the capital from
Polonnaruwa to Yapahuwa in the face of
Dravidian invasions from South India, bringing
the Sacred Tooth Relic with him. Following the
death of King Bhuvenakabahu in 1284, the
Pandyans of South India invaded Sri

coast, and a historic settlement of the
ancient .
BATICALOA LAGOONS
Batticaloa Lagoon is a very large estuarine
lagoon in Batticaloa District, of Eastern Sri
Lanka. The city of Batticaloa is located on a
narrow stretch of land between the lagoon
and the Indian Ocean.
DONDRA HEAD

the southernmost point in Sri Lanka and


is Sri Lanka's tallest lighthouse and also
one of the tallest in South East Asia.

BARBERYN ISLAND
The Barberyn Lighthouse in Beruwala is located
on Barberyn Island; approximately half a mile
offshore from the little town of Beruwala. This
tiny 8 acre tropical island has hosted the
lighthouse for over a century. Today, Barberyn
Lighthouse is one of only four international
lighthouses in Sri Lanka.
