SLAT RIGGING

There are 4 basic rigging settings or adjustments for the slats:

A. Slat track synchronization: Done at partial extension using the rigging
blocks to index the slats at xx degrees before interconnection of the 6
actuators.
B. Slat incidence: The slat can adjusted on its pitch axis (nose-up/nose-
down) by rotation of eccentric bushings at the slat-to-track attachment.
Upper trailing edge to top skin gap is used to set the incidence at the index
position.
C. Slat lateral position: The slat is located laterally by track side rollers at the
center track of each slat, which can be shimmed to move the slat laterally.
Lateral clearances between the slats and between the slats and fixed
leading edges as well as roller/track clearance determine shimming
requirements and are checked with slats at zero.
D. Actuator Adjustments: Certain steps and gaps can be adjusted by
independent actuator extension/retraction at each track within the overall
position limits

SLAT RIGGING

Basic Rigging Steps:

1.Prepare slats by disconnecting from PDU and backing off overtravel stop bolts
2.Synchronize slat tracks on extension/retraction axis (set by rig blocks)
3.Check/adjust slat trailing edge clearance to wing while engaged with rig blocks
(controlled by eccentric bushings)
4.Retract slats to put slat leading edges flush with fixed leading edges
5.Connect drive shafts to PDU and BPSU
6.Check surface measurements:
1. Slat to fixed leading edge mismatch
2. Slat lower trailing edge gap
3. Slat lower trailing edge step
4. Upper trailing edge is resting on wing skin at each track station
5. Upper trailing edge bow is in limits (max gap away from track stations)
6. Inter-slat span-wise gap are correct
7.Check/set center track side roller clearances each slat

 Rigging process is:
 Synchronize the drive line and tracks, using the rigging blocks to index
each track at xx degrees extension
 While indexed at xx degrees, check slat incidence and adjust if necessary
using the trailing edge gap and adjusting eccentric bushings at the track tip
 Retract slats to zero and check various steps, gaps and mismatches
 Check and adjust center track rollers to move slat laterally if necessary
and/or to achieve required roller clearances
