CHILDHOOD
 His name is Luís Miguel Barbosa Maia
[1].
 He was born in Espinho, Portugal, on
April 1971.
 When he was a child, his favorite sport
was football, but in his adolescence he
decided to follow his father’s exemple,
trading football for volleyball.
 He is famous for playing volleyball and
being the best player ever in the sport. His
position is distributor or passer.

LIFE
 His career started in 1987, when he starts
playing at senior level of AA Espinho.
 He participated in the Olympic Games in 1996
and 2000, where he won 2 brilliants fourth
places [2].
 He was also considered the best volleyball
player in the world five times in a row.

 He won 8 cups in Portugal while playing for

 He won 4 super bowls while playing for Sporting

RECENT EVENTS

 In 2019, he organized the first Master’s world

championship in Espinho [4].
 Also opened a beach volleyball school where they teach
the practice of the sport and organize weekly tournaments.
