DEFINITION

Offering help is a way or an


expression to suggest or offer
help to someone who needs it.
PURPOSE

Is to offer assistance for


someone who is doing something
politely
LANGUAGE FEATURES
• Using modal auxiliaries (may, can, and would)
Ex. Can I help you?
• The use of question sentence
Ex. Do you need help?
• The use of pronouns
Ex. Would you like some help?
• The use of verbs
Ex. Can I help you in learning English?

EXAMPLE

Mr. George is cleaning his garden. He uses many gardening tools such
as sickle, hoe, spade, and big scissors. Billy is offering a help.

Billy : “what are you doing, Dad”


Mr. George : “I am going to plant some vegetables”
Billy : “can I help you?” (offering)
Mr. George : “yes, please clean the soil from the grass after I
hoe” (accepting)
Billy : “Certainly, Dad”
