    Spermatogenesis is the process by which male gametes, or sperm, are produced in the testes. Within the seminiferous tubules located between Sertoli cells, spermatogonia undergo meiosis and differentiate into spermatozoa. Leydig cells located outside the tubules produce testosterone which is important for spermatogenesis, gonad development, and secondary sex characteristics.
