INTRODUCTION Group of children

- Early childhood (birth to age 5) , middle


childhood (age 6 to 12) and adolescence
(ages 13 to 18) are the three major stages
of child development .

Meaning of autism

- A brain condition that effects the


development of social and communication
skills in ways that can be severe or slight
and that can make someone’s behaviour
and interests different from people without
the conditions.

Prevalence or Statistic in Malaysia

According to MOH data , the number of


diagnoses for autism spectrum child (ASD) in
Malaysia has risen steadily over the past decade.

The latest annual figure for 2021 showed a total


of 589 children aged 18 and below being
diagnosed with ASD , up five per cent from 562
children in 2020.

The National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) says


one in 68 newborns or 9000 babies are diagnosed as
having ASD every year. Under the category of autism,
the figure was 2584
