    Ethnocentrism
    Ethnocentrism (also known
    as cultural bias)
    is the belief that your culture
    is natural and correct while
    other people’s culture are
    incorrect, unnatural, or
    inferior.
    Judging other country’s diet and
    cultural dress
    Expecting others to speak
    your language
    Stereotyping
    Cultural
    stereotypes are
    oversimplified
    assumptions
    people make
    about an entire
    cultural group.
    All Asians
    are good at
    math
    Conflicting
    Values
    Culture is like an iceberg:
    what you see are the
    behaviours, and those are
    influenced by the
    invisible values under the
    water line.
    Direct vs Indirect Communication
    In western countries, it is
    normal to express their
    thoughts or opinions clearly
    so there is no room for
    misrepresentation.
    However, in Asian countries,
    they prefer to communicate
    indirectly.
    Formality vs Informality

    In Australia, people are generally casual


    whereas in most Asian countries, people
    tend to be more formal.
