INTRODUCTION

 Social Connect and Responsibilities(21SCR36) is an activity-


based course that has enabled us to connect with fellow
human beings, nature, soc iety and the world.
 The purpose of social responsibility is to make an individual
socially responsible so that he/she can positively impact the
environment.
 It enabled us to showcase many skills like planning
and organizational skills in reality.
MODULE 1
PLANTATION AND ADOPTION OF
TREES

► On the 13th of December 2022 we planted a chikoo sapling at


the plantation drive.We protected it with the necessary guard to
keep it safe from animals,birds and wind and watered our
sapling regularly.
► Chikoo, also known as sapota, is a long lived everygreen tree native
to Southern Mexico,Central America and the Caribbean.
► Sapota is mainly used for its anti-inflammatory benefits.It is also a
good sourc e for dietary fibre.
► It serves as an traditional medic ine and relieves pulmonary
problems.
► The chicle from the bark of the sapota tree is used to make
chewing gum and other produc ts.
► With the aim of “We are from the soil, by the soil and to the
soil”.we suc c essfully c ompleted the plantation drive and
learnt about the importanc e of soil and the nature.
MODULE 2
HERITAGE WALK AND CRAFTS
CORNER

► On the 5th of January 2023 we visited THE KEMPEGOWDA


MUSEUM.It is plac ed in the heart of the c ity, M G road (ashok
nagar).
► The museum was established in the year 2011 and is dedicated to
Yelahanka c hieftain Kempegowda(1513-1569) who is the
founder of Bengaluru.
► An interesting experience of the museum is the floor. The visitors of
the museum will actually be walking on the magnified heritage
map of 19th-century Bengaluru. The map is spread across the
wooden flooring and is laminated with a glass slab.
► The four c orners of the room have tower-shaped panels to
symbolize the four watc h towers of the earlier town
► There are display panels located on the walls in between the towers
which showcase information and photographs of some historic
places in and around Bengaluru.

ORGANIC FARMING
► O rganic fa rming is a method of a gric ultural produc tion
that excludes the use of synthetic substances, such as
pesticides, synthetic medic ines or fertilizers, and
genetic a lly modified organisms.
► O n the 24th of January 2023 we visited INDO -AM ERIC AN
HYBRID SEEDS. It is one of the largest and very innovative
horticultural enterprises which involves growing oh variety of
flowers, seeds, fruits and researc h work.
► Its primary focus is to supply seeds of the highest quality to
the Indian market.
► We saw many aesthetic valued plants all around the
place and learnt a lot about the unique plants and the
organic farming

WASTE MANAGEMENT
► Waste management or waste disposal includes the processes and
actions required to manage waste from its inception to its final disposal.
This includes the collection, transport, treatment, and disposal of waste,
together with monitoring and regulation.
► The main method of waste management at the household level is wet
waste and dry waste.
► The dry waste is recycled where as The wet waste collected around the
city is made used to make compost. These composts are fed to the soil for
the enric hment and good yield
► The wet waste collected in the campus is generally shredded and then
transferred into a compost pit on a daily loading sequence. When the
pit is nearly full the c ompost is harvested and used.
MODULE 4
WATER
CONSERVATION

► Wa ter c onservation is the pra c tic e of using water


effic iently to reduce unnecessary water usage. It is
important because fresh c lean wa ter is a limited resourc e.
Henc e we must ta ke the necessary steps to conserve the
available resource efficiently.
► We visited uttarahalli lake located in uttarahalli, Bengaluru.
The lake attracts many bird species that wade in the natural
wetland in the north. The six inlets and monsoon rains ensure
that there is water in the southern pa rt of the la ke all year
► Hence we learnt about various water harvesting Techniques
and how rainwater or river water is to be conserved and
maintained so that it’s effic ient For future purpose
MODULE 5
FOOD WALK

► On the 25th of March our college organized food walk. Where each
group brought in the authentic flavours of various places.
► We prepared tomato and cucumber masala. With some basic
ingredients like Tomato , Cucumber Puffed rice ,Lemon juice , Sev ,
peanuts , Onion, Salt, Masala, Sweet syrup (meetha) and Spicy chutney
(teekha).
► We used tomatoes ,cucumbers and peanuts which has great
health benefits
► Tomato - Tomatoes are low in calories and provide important nutrients
like vitamin C and potassium. They're also rich in antioxidants—one
called lycopene, responsible for tomatoes' characteristic color, is linked
to several benefits, such as a reduced risk of heart disease and certain
cancers.
MODULE 5
FOOD WALK

► Cucumber - All that water in cucumbers can help keep you


hydrated. Plus, the fiber boost they give you helps you stay
regular and avoid constipation. The vitamin K helps blood
clot and keep your bones healthy. Vitamin A has many
jobs, like helping with vision, the immune system, and
reproduction.

► Peanut - Pea nuts help prevent heart disease by lowering


cholesterol levels. They can also stop small blood clots from
forming a nd reduc e your risk of having a heart atta c k or
stroke. Foods with a lot of protein c an help you feel full
with fewer calories.

► We had great joy and excitement in preparing this dish

► we also learnt about different foods and cuisines. Hence it


was a joyful event and a great learning experience for us
JAMMING SESSION

 On March 25th, we had a jamming session to showcase our


talent and ideas. It was a great platform to present our skills in
front of our teac hers and fellow mates.
► We had different events, including dancing, music, skits,
and painting.
► I did a mandala art as part of my participation.
► Mandala is a geometric design or pattern that
represents the c osmos or deities in various heavenly
worlds.
► It's all about finding peace in the symmetry of the design and
of the universe.
► It was a day full of activity, amusement, and entertainment.
