GOLDEN RULES OF

FIRST AID
 Do first things first,quickly,quietly &
without panic (hurry)
 Reassure the casualty & his
relatives sympathetically
 Reach the accident spot quickly
 Avoid handling casualty
unnecessarily
 Look for the following:
 Treat the circulation, maintain
intake output of the patient, give
fluids to the patient or maintain fluid
electrolyte balance
 Secondly treat the breathing,
start artificial respiration
immediately if breathing stops
• Then maintain clear airway so
that the patient may not aspirate
the secretion . Give side lying
position so secretions come out
 Inspect the area around the
casualty. If the cause for accident
is still there , try to remove it.
 Reassure the patient by giving
psychological support
 Give comfortable position to the
patient
 The first aider should use the
resourceful.
Exa: use the cloth instead of
bandage if not present
 The first aider should shift the
patient at safer place.
Exa: if the patient is feeling
suffocation in room then shift the
patient outside of the room

 Inform the relatives about accident


or illness& the name of the place
where the patient is.
 Arrange the transport for the
casualty to the nearest medical aid
 Handle the casualty properly if you
are alone because too much
investigations & moving of body
parts for inspection can have
adverse effects.
 Avoid allow the people to crowding
around the patient because it may
increase the anxiety of the patient,
only allow those people to come
who can provide the first aid.
Importance Of First Aid
• First aid is essential in emergency cases.
Knowing what action needs to be taken to
control an emergency can make the
difference between life and death.
• Emergencies occur all around us, in all
spheres of life. Someone may be injured at
work, school or at home. When this
happens, first aid basics will equip anyone
around the injured person to reduce the
danger posed by the accident.
