What is a pitch?
• A pitch is a quick description of your business and/or idea
in a short time
• Presenting yourself effectively is an essential tool in the
business arena
• A well-planned pitch can open the doors to success in your
future endeavors
• Ideas may be at any stage of development from creation of
concepts or ideas to an established business.
• The purpose of your pitch is to QUICKLY get the potential
investor’s attention, let them know what you have and what
you are offering to get them to say… “Tell me more!!”
Types of Pitch
Shark Tank Pitches
investor-oriented pitches, students try to
convince judges the business model they’ve
been working on is worth investing in
Process Pitches
the goal is to convince judges that students
learned a process for finding successful business
models. Done by telling the story of:
• What assumptions were made along the way
• How students tested those assumptions
• What have been changed in their business
model as a result
• What assumptions will be tested next
Pitch deck
• A 10-20 slide presentation used by start-ups to provide
potential investors with a brief overview of their business
• The goal  to pique the investor's interest to learn more
about the business
• A short summary of your company, your business plan, your
start-up vision, how it plans to make money, and the team
behind it
• To convince why the investor should invest in your company
• Can serve very different purposes, from trying to get a
meeting with a new investor, to presenting in front of a
stage, and each one of them should follow a different
structure.

2. How do you solve that problem?
3. Why should someone invest in you?
