 Research Bacground
According to Zaenuddin (1992, p. 51) figurative language is the use of various languages
which is used to express the idea of the speaker directly that uses figures of speech, a way
of saying something other than the literal meaning of the words.
Figurative language is used in any form of communication, such as in daily conversation
rarely, articles in newspaper, advertisements, novels, poems, etc.
 Research Bacground
In teaching English, there are a lot of media and many ways to get students interested in
learning English. One of them is using literary media, such as novel, short story, drama,
song lyric, and poetry. This research focuses on song lyrics to attract the students in
learning english.
 There is a lot of
previous research
which related to the
title Milana and Ardi Setiawan (2014) :

(1977) and value based on Schwartz (2007).
