    Feudal society was a military hierarchy where a ruler or lord offered knights units of land called fiefs in exchange for military service. Society was divided into four classes - kings and queens at the top who were all lords, nobles who were vassals of the king and also lords of lower nobles and knights, knights who served nobles in exchange for land, and peasants at the bottom who owned no land and worked the lands of nobles and knights. Peasants were further divided into non-free slaves, semi-free serfs who helped landlords, and free tenants who paid low rents and taxes.

    SOCIETY
    –Feudal society is a military hierarchy in which
    a ruler on lord offers mounted lighters a
    fief(medieval beneficium),a unit of land to
    control in exchange for a military service.
    FEUDAL CATEGORIZED INTO 4 CLASSES;

    1.KING AND QUEEN—were the greatest lords of feudal society and all nobles and knights were their vassals.
    2.NOBLES—were vassals of king and queen many were also lords of lower ranking nobles and knights.
    3. KNIGHTS—Serve their nobles lords in exchange for land.
    4. PEASANT—no land and many peasant work on land owner by
    nobles or knights.

    • NON FREE Srents,– they used as slaves for agricultural artisanal

    • labor as will as a domestic military service.

    • FREE SERF– it is a helper or assistant in landlord he given a authority

    • to manage the land of landlord.

    • FREE TENANTS—is who occupied a unique place or they were

    • characterized by the low rents,low tax.
