Introduction
• This section provides an overview or summary of the
research.
• The reasons for the selection of the topic;
• It could relate to prior learning, influence of past research,
previous experience, personal interest and the beliefs and
values of the learner;
• The purpose and aims of the research and Research
questions;
• The advice and guidance of teachers or others could also be
mentioned;
• Mention any of your values or believes that might bias you;
• How research outcomes will be used;
• In-text citations.

Task - Introduction
Learners start their research, establish their foundation,
gather background information which is summarized in
the introduction. Learners should:
 explain why they are concerned/ interested in this topic
from 3 perspectives;
 identify the purpose of the study and what they want to
find from experts and from Kazakhstani people;
 predicts how the study might increase knowledge
about the topic;
 suggests how research outcomes will be used.

Instruction
1. Students get 3 samples of introductions.
2. Students read the texts individually and
evaluate whether they meet the requirements of
introduction section and pay attention to APA
style used.
3. Each student presents his/her findings and
justifies them.
