oxygen to the body’s tissues.
Mild anemia- low up to 11gm/dl
Moderate anemia- 9-11gm/dl
Severe anemia- below 9gm/dl

Definition of anemia
According to standard laid down by WHO, “anemia in pregnancy is present when
the hemoglobin concentration in the peripheral blood is 11g/100ml or less
(hematocrit <32%).”
Anemia is a condition in which the number of red blood cells or the hemoglobin
concentration within them is lower than normal. Hemoglobin is needed to carry
oxygen and if have too few or abnormal red blood cells, or not enough hemoglobin,
there will be a decreased capacity of the blood to carry oxygen to the body’s
issues.
