Social dances/Ballroom dances

• Dance in pairs, male and female but may also perform in group.

• Classified into two Latin American Dances and Modern Standard Dances.

• Latin dances are mostly coming from the Latin-American countries.

• This dance distinguishes by the costumes worn by the performers.

• They are somewhat revealing, tight fitting, sexy yet sophisticated in nature.

• They are freer and can performed in close or open hold.


• Modern Standard wear formal, ankle-length gowns for
females and coat -and-tie for males.

• Most of the time, movements in these are restricted to


close ballroom position with partner.

• Social or ballrooms dances are different from dance sport


because they were performed in competition that requires
proper training and athleticism, stablish rules of different
level of difficulty.

• Dance mixers are social dances which allow group of


performers to change partners periodically while dancing
to allow chance to get to know other members of the
performing group.
• The cha-cha-cha (also called cha-cha), is a dance of Cuban
origin. It is danced to the music of the same name
introduced by Cuban composer and violinist Enrique
Jorrin in the early 1950s.

• This rhythm was developed from the danzón-mambo.

• The name of the dance is an onomatopoeia derived from


the shuffling sound of the dancers' feet when they dance
two consecutive quick steps (correctly, on the fourth count
of each measure) that characterize the dance.
Basic step in Cha-cha.
Cha cha music is composed in 4/4 time (four beats to a bar of music). For
each bar of music there are 2 slow and 3 quick steps, which may be
counted as – one, two, cha, cha, cha or step, step, step, quick step, quick
step. The footwork is simple and mostly focuses on just shifting weight
from one foot to another.

The Rumba is considered to be one of the
most beautiful Latin style dances, earning it's
nickname as “The Dance of Love.”

Rumba dance has 1 slide steps to execute.

Jive is a type of ballroom dance which has


African and American steps

Jive dance have slow rock.

of a person

• a sprint race in track and field competitions

Side shuttle
• is a fitness test designed to measure or evaluate your
speed, agility, and endurance.
