What is a circle?
What is a circle?
 A circle is a closed figure in which the set of all
the points in the plane is equidistant from a fixed
point called “center”.

 Every line that passes through the circle forms the

line of reflection symmetry.
What is a circle?
 The circle is one of the most important shapes in
geometry. It is unique because it has 0 sides and
is completely curved.

 One unique factor about the center is that it is

equidistant from all of the ‘rim’ of the circle.

What is an arc of a
circle?
An arc of a circle is any portion of the circumference of a circle. To
recall, the circumference of a circle is the perimeter or distance
around a circle. Therefore, we can say that the circumference of a
circle is the full arc of the circle itself.

What is an arc of a
circle?
MINOR
The minor arc is an arc that subtends

an angle of less than 180 degrees to
the circle’s center. In other words, the
minor arc measures less than a
semicircle and is represented on the
circle by two points.

MAJOR
ARC
The major arc of a circle is an arc that
subtends an angle of more than 180
degrees to the circle’s center. The major
arc is greater than the semi-circle and is
represented by three points on a circle.

What Is an inscribed
angle?  An inscribed angle is an angle whose
vertex is on a circle and whose sides
contain chords of the circle. The arc that
lies in the interior of an inscribed angle
and has endpoints on the angle is called
the intercepted arc of the angle.

What Is an intercepted

different chords or line segments cut
across a circle and meet at a common
