BEAUTY
Beauty is seen
In the sunlight ,
The trees , the birds ,
Corn growing and people working
Or dancing for their harvest .

Beauty is heard
In the night ,
Wind sighing , rain falling ,
Or a singer chanting
Anything in earnest .

Beauty is in yourself .
Good deeds , happy thoughts
That repeat themselves
In your dreams ,
In your work ,
And even in your rest .
Explanation of the poem :

o Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder , so in the first stanza the poetess talk about the
beauty which can be seen or perceived in our surroundings , like the bright warm light
of sun , the greenery of the trees , in the flying birds , in the yellow corn fields , people
working on fields ,and in their joyful faces while they are dancing during the
harvest .

o In the second stanza , she talks about the beauty which can be heard during night like
various sounds in nature , for example in ‘ a swoosh’ of wind or in slow continuous tiny
drops of rain and in a song sung , like a hymn by a monk or an azan from a mosque
whichever elates our heart . So this is the magic of our poetess through which she turns
even intangible sounds into interpretations of beauty .

o In the third and final stanza , she talks about the beauty , which lies in self love , we
can feel beauty in ourselves by caring for others , helping them and thinking for
their good , so whenever we will think about it , while working , resting or dreaming ,
we will feel that peace in ourselves and our heart would be elated with joy .
To conclude it could be said that the word beauty doesn't hasn’t a single meaning , it is
interpreted by how we perceive it .
