QUANTIFIERS

are quantity words also known as


quantity placed before noun
to modify nouns.
Some quantity words only in English go with
countable nouns.
• Countable Nouns are nouns that refer to things that exist independently,
can be counted, can be used with the number that goes before the word.
• Words used with countable nouns are: few, a few, many, a large number
of, several, a geat number of, a number of, the number of.
Some other words go with uncountable
nouns
• Uncountable Nouns are nouns that refer to things and phenomena that we
cannot use with numbers.
• Words used with uncountable nouns are : little, a little, much, a large
amount of, a great deal of.
And a number can go with both countable
and uncountable nouns.
• And some words can go with both countable and uncountable nouns like:
a lot of, plenty of, lots of, some, any, all, no
