What is APA
On the first line of the abstract page, center and bold the word “Abstract” (no
italics, underlining, or quotation marks).
Beginning with the next line, write a concise summary of the key points of
your research. (Do not indent.)
Your abstract should contain at least your research topic, research questions,
participants, methods, results, data analysis, and conclusions.
Your abstract should be a single paragraph, double-spaced. Your abstract
should typically be no more than 250 words.
You may also want to list keywords from your paper in your abstract.
type Keywords: (italicized), and then list your keywords
Text (Body)
Most papers include an introduction that addresses the importance of
the work, contextualizes the work within the existing literature, and
states the aims of the work.
The paper should include paragraphs or sections explaining the main
premises of the paper.
A Quantitative research paper typically includes sections called
Method, Results, and Discussion.
References
On the APA reference page, list all the sources that you’ve
cited in paper. The list starts on a new page right after the body
text.
Place the section label “References” in bold at the top of the
page (centered).
Order the references alphabetically.
Double-space all text.
Apply a hanging indent of 0.5 inches.
Footnotes
You can use footnotes in APA 7 to:
• Give additional information
• Provide copyright attribution
• A footnote is a brief note that provides additional content or copyright
attribution.
• They should not include complicated, irrelevant, or nonessential
information. Because they can be distracting to readers.
Appendices
Order of Pages
Title page, Abstract, Text, References, Footnotes, Tables, Figures,
Appendices.
Fonts
Times New Roman (12 pt.), Arial (11pt), Georgia (11pt), Calibri (11pt), Lucida Sans
Unicode (10pt)
Margins
Margins should be one (1) inch on all sides
Page Numbers
Page no. should be placed in the document header with right alignment
Spacing
The entire document should be double spaced
