Context

 The French Revolution


 Leopold II of Habsburg forms the
first coalition to invade France
 France starts attacking first
 Revolutionary French Wars
Napoleone Di Buonaparte
(August 15th, 1769 – May
5, 1821)

 Born in Corcega, his family was part of


the nobility.
 His father would send him to military
school
 Napoleon tried to free Corcega with no
results
 During the revolution Napoleon would
head troops in Tolon, which helped him
ascend political ranks with the Jacobines.
 He became famous by oppressing
revolutions
 He then married his wife Josephine
 He changed his name to Napoleon
Bonaparte
The start of his
conquest
 France would start attacking
their enemies and Napoleon was
sent to deal with Italy.
 He would gain new territories for
France
 Napoleon wrote two newspapers
to tell everyone about his
victories
Napoleon in Egypt

 The directory was


afraid of Napoleon’s
power, so they sent
him to Egypt.
 During his time there
he claimed the Rosetta
Stone and conquered
Alexandria and Syria.
 The Battle of the Nile
The Consulate

 The Second Coalition


 Napoleon would return to
France and establish a coup on
November 9th, 1799.

 The Second Coalition was
dissolved after the Battle of
Marengo.
