Formal invitations are invitations that are usually


made or issued by a person, company, or agency.

According to Webster’s Dictionary, a formal


invitation is an invitation which follows a dignified
form, tone, or style in agreement with the
established norms, customs, or values.
Differences of Formal and Informal
Invitation
Formal Invitation : Informal Invitation :
- For a lot of invitees - For a individual
- It is written in the third person - It includes the name of the invitee
- Name of the invitee isn’t to be - It is written on run-on lines

Language Features of Formal Invitation

In a official invitation there is a possibility that the person invited
may or may not attend the event being held. For this reason, the
inviter usually asks the invited person to confirm whether they
can attend or not. RSVP it self comes from French (Repondes S'il
Vouz Plaid) which then translated into English means "please
reply".
