GLYCOGENESIS
GLYCOGENESIS
Glycogenesis is the process of glycogen synthesis, in which glucose
molecules are added to chains of glycogen for storage.
• Note-

Glucose not utilized immediately is converted and

stored as glycogen via glycogenesis in the liver
Glycogenesis Pathway
• The pathway for glycogen synthesis from glucose in skeletal muscle
differs somewhat from that in liver.
1. PHOSPHORYLATION OF SUGAR
• This is the first step of GLYCOGENESIS in which glucose convert into
glucose-6- phosphate with the help of enzyme HEXOKINASE and ATP
convert into ADP.
• Second step of GLYCOGENESIS is glucose-6-phosphate convert into
fructose-6-phosphate with the help of enzyme PHOSPHOISOMERASE
CYTOPLASM.
• Third step is fructose-6-phosphate change in Fructose 1,6
diphosphate and ATP convert into ADP.
SPLITTING OF SUGAR
• Fourth step of GLYCOGENESIS is Fructose 1,6 diphosphate change into
3 Phosphoglyceraldehyde with the help of enzyme aldolase.
5th step of GLYCOGENESIS is 3 Phosphoglyceraldehyde Mutually convert
into Dihydroxy Acetone phosphate.
FORMATION Of TWO MOLES Of PYRUVIC
ACID
• 6 th step of GLYCOGENESIS is 3 Phosphoglyceraldehyde convert into
1,3 diphosphoglyceraldehyde with the help of enzyme
PHOSPHOTRIOSE ISOMERASE and H3Pb4 add in this process.
• The Seven step of occuring process is 1,3 diphosphoglyceraldehyde
convert into 1,3 Phosphoglyceric Acid with the help of enzyme
DIPHOSPHOGLYCERALDEHYDE DEHYDROGENASE and 2NAD change in
2ATP.
• 8th step of process is 1,3 phosphoglyceric acid Change into 3
phosphoglyceric acid with the help of enzyme PHOSPHO-
TRANSMERASE and 2ADP change into 2ATP.
• The 9th step of GLYCOGENESIS is 3 phosphoglyceric acid Change into 2
phosphoglyceric acid with the help of enzyme
PHOSPHOGLYCERMUTASE.
• The 10th step of GLYCOGENESIS is 2 phosphoglyceric acid Change into
2 Phosphoenol Pyruvic Acid with the help of enzyme ANOLASE.
• The final step of GLYCOGENESIS is 2 Phosphoenol Pyruvic Acid change
into Pyruvic Acid with the help of enzyme PYRUVIC KINASE and 2ADP
change into 2ATP.
