WHAT’S A JOYSTICK
A joystick is an input device that can be used for
controlling the movement of the cursor or a pointer in a
computer device. The pointer/cursor movement is
controlled by moving a lever on the joystick. The input
device is mostly used for gaming and, sometimes, in
graphics applications. Joysticks also can be helpful as an
input device for people with movement disabilities.
TYPES OF JOYSTICKS
 Digital Joysticks.
 Paddle Joysticks.
 PC Analog Joysticks.
 Analog Joysticks etc.
Digital Joysticks

Digital joysticks are the most

common joysticks used for
PCs, employing simple left,
right, up, down and firing
commands. They are also
called "Atari-style" digital
joysticks.
Paddle Joysticks

A paddle joystick is a game

controller with a round wheel and
one or more fire buttons, where the
wheel is typically used to control
movement of the player object ...
Analog Joysticks

An analog stick, also known as a control

stick or thumbstick, is an input device for
a controller that is used for two-
dimensional input. The most common
example for analog stick is your typical
gaming controllers (ex: Duelshock 4 or
Duelsense etc.)
ADVANTAGES:
 A joystick helps to move the object in any direction and control the
operation of the objects in the arcade video games very easily
 A joystick provides fast interaction in the interface of digital
information to control objects in a 3D direction in video games
 Joystick comprises a vertical rod mounted on the base of the device
to control operation
DISADVANTAGES:
 In the operation of the joystick, it is very difficult to control
the on-screen cursor than a computer mouse
 Operation of the joystick may create an extra force on the
object that leads to the failure in the movement of an object in
the right direction
 Intense use can cause Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI).
