Assessment:
Assessment takes place at the end of the
course includes written, oral and practical
examinations. This gives learners a variety
of ways to show their knowledge and
skills.
Cambridge assessment:
Cambridge assessment is an
international exams group that designs
and delivers assessments to over 8
million learners in over 170 countries.
Levels of assessment:

• O level
• A level
O level:
O level stands for ordinary level. It is the
first half of GCE. It is an internationally
recognised qualifications and is considered
to be equivalent of Cambridge IGCSE and
UK GCSE.
• Age group:
It is taken between the age group of 14-16.

• Certificate:
It is final certificate for secondary
school.

• Subjects:
Students usually take 7-9 subjects for the O
level examination. The maximum number of
subjects a student can take being 14.
• Group 1: languages
Subjects: French, German, Spanish etc.
• Group 2: humanities and social sciences
Subjects: Economics, Geography, Sociology etc.

• Group 3: sciences
Subjects: Agriculture, Physics, Chemistry etc.

• Group 4: mathematics
Subjects: Additional, Mathematics

• Group 5: business, technical and creative


Subjects: business studies, commerce, computer science etc.

• Group 6: English, language and literature


Subjects: English language, English literature etc.
Assessment:
Grades scorable are from A* to E. A*
indicating the highest level of
achievement and E being the minimum • A*: Outstanding
satisfactory performance. The grade F is

considered to be a fail in given subject.
• B: Good
• C: Satisfactory
• D: Marginal
• E: Unsatisfactory
• F: Fail
Recognition:
Majority of the universities worldwide require both but some
universities in US and Canada will accept students with five O level
subjects with C grade in all five. It satisfies English proficiency
standards.
A level:
A level stands for advanced level. It is the second part of
GCE. It is considered as standard assessment of students
in order to determine their candidacy for college and
university applications.
• Age group:
It is taken between the age group of 16-18.

• Subjects:
Students are required to choose four to six subjects for A level
examination out of fifty five possible subjects.
