INTRODUCTION
● BONE FRACTURE: is a break or Disruption in
continuity of the structure of Bone.
CLASSIFICATIONOF FRACTURE (on the basis of)
1. Etiology (Traumatic)
2. Displacement (Displaced)
3. Communication with external environment (Open)
4. Fracture morphology (Oblique)
5. Site of Fracture (Distal part of Humerus)

FRACTURE REDUCTION: is the restoration of the bone

fragments back to original alignment after
displacement. 3
INTRODUCTION CONT.
METHODS OF REDUCTION
1. CLOSED REDUCTION: Closed reduction refers to
realigning bones without breaching the skin. It is
performed with manual manipulation.

2. OPEN REDUCTION: primarily refers to surgical

procedure that is performed to realign bones or fragments
and maintain the reduction.

ANAESTHETIC PROTOCOL
● Ring block using 2% lignocaine (10mg/kg) was
infiltrated around the border of the Humerus.
SURGICAL PROCEDURE
• The gobbler was positioned on left lateral recumbency.
• The surgical site was aseptically prepared using 0.3% w/v
chlorhexidine gluconate.
• The surgical site was draped.
• A hole was drilled on both the edges of the broken bone using
bone driller.
• Cerclage wire was inserted into the hole to reduce the fracture.
• The cerclage wire was knotted gently on to the bone and aligned
properly.
