Introduction
• Tail rotor torque check in a MI-17 helicopter must be
carried out after the installation of the rotor blades
to the aircraft.

• Torque check must be done after the aircraft has


completed the 5 hors of flying after the installation.

Operation and technical requirements
• Install the ladder in the area of the tail rotor gearbox.
• Drive out the screws attaching the cover of the access
door located on the tail rotor pylon and open the
access door cover.
• Using the torque wrench, check the tail rotor gearbox
bolt nuts for proper tightening, having unlocked
them.

• Check the tightening of the diametrically opposite
bolts successively. The nut torque should be within 25
to 30 N.m.
• Hold the bolt head with the aid of the wrench during
the check.
• Lock the nuts with the aid of the cotter pins.

• After looking, coat the heads and projecting portions
of the bolts together with nuts by two layers of
primer AK-070 and then by one layer of grey-blue
enamel.
• Close the access doors.
• Remove the ladder from the helicopter.
