● Take turns with your elbow partner reading each article (10 min for both) ● Then take 5 min to discuss which of the articles is descriptive and which is opinion with your elbow partner ● Finally we will have a short class discussion Declaration of Independence as a Breakup Letter ● Using the Declaration of Independence as a model, you will write a breakup letter to someone you have a relationship with (real or imagined) ● This can be a romantic break up, breaking up with a certain food, a team, a classroom, a teacher, your parents, a bad habit, or anything else you have a relationship with that you want to end ● When finished, your letter should be about 1 page typed Declaration of Independence as a Breakup Letter ● Your letter will have five parts: ○ Preamble (Honey, this isn’t working out) ○ List of Grievances (Actions of the entity that you are leaving that harmed the relationship) [Minimum 10] ○ Petition for Redress (Actions you to to try and fix the problem ○ Response (Ways they reacted that made the situation worse) ○ Declaration of Independence (Strong statement at the end to emphasise the relationship is over) Tuesday’s Agenda
