EQUIPMENT FOR

COCRETE MIXING
INTRODUCTION
Nowdays we mostly used cement concrete. Cement Concrete is the mixture of
cement, sand, coarse aggregates with water in a fixed proportion. It is the most
widely used construction materials in civil engineering construction. This mixture is
used in construction for a variety of applications, including building foundations,
roads, bridges, and other structures.
Mixing concrete refers to the process of combining all the ingredients needed to
make concrete in a uniform and consistent manner
Method of Mixing of concrete
• Hand Mixing of Concrete
• Machine Mixing of Concrete
Hand mixing
The process of mixing the various
ingredients of concrete by manual labour,
is called hand mixing of concrete. Hand Hand
mixing of concrete may be resorted to at mixin
small projects which require limited g
quantity of concrete. Now-a-days machine
mixing of concrete is almost done and only
in exceptional cases, mixing concrete by
hand may be permitted.
Machine Mixing

The process of mixing concrete materials

in a concrete mixer is known as machine
mixing. This sort of concrete mixing
technique is commonly used for
medium- large construction projects where
a huge amount of concrete is required and
hand mixing is ineffective.
Concrete Mixers
• concrete mixer is a device that combines concrete, aggregate such as
sand or gravel, and water to form concrete. Its is classified into :
• Batch Mixers
• Continous mixture
Batch mixer
• The concrete is mixed batch by batch in a batch mixer at predetermined
intervals. Batch mixers are commonly used in small to medium-sized
construction projects. Batch mixers are further divided into two types:
• Drum Type Mixer
• Pan Type Mixer
• There are three different types of drum type mixers dependent on how the
mixed concrete is discharged:
• tilting, non-tilting, and reversing mixers.

Pan Mixers
Pan type mixers consists a circular pan
in which concrete is mixed. The mixing
is done by blades which are arranged in
star shape inside the pan.
There are two types of pan mixers are available
. In one case, the circular pan is constant and
only star blades rotate about vertical axis of pan.
Continous Mixers
Continuous mixer, the name itself telling
its duty that the loading, mixing and
discharging of mix is continuously done
until the work is complete or work break
occurs. The loading of materials is done
continuously by screw feeders. Continuous mixtures are used for very large
projects such as dams, bridges, construction of high rise buildings, etc.
