What is the
Syrian civil war?
• The Syrian civil war is an
continuing agresive conflict
between Bashsar al Assar and
the Syrian rebel groups.
It started on the 15 of
March 2011.

participated?
• The major parties supporting the
Syrian Government are Iran Iraq and
Russia .Syrian rebel groups received
political, coordination and
military support from Arabia Saudi,
Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, the UK, the

How did it
start?
The Syrian war started in 2011, when the
Syrians enraged by corruption and
encorage by a wave of ' Arab Spring'
protests across the region took to the
streets to demand democratic
responsability for their leaders.

ENRAGED: very angry; furious.

CORRUPTION:dishonest behavior by
those in positions of power.
How many
people died?
• Acording to the UN, at least 400,000
people have been killed in the last 10
years of war in Syria. And 88, 000
civilans believed to have died of
torture in goverment- run prisions.

000 children were killed or wounded
in the war.
Bashar al Assad

• Bashar al assad was born in September


11 1965, and is Syria's president since
17 July 2000. He seized the power of
Syria when his father, Hasef al Assad,
died on July 10 2000. He has four
siblings: Maher al Assad, Bassel al
Assad, Bushra al Assad and Majd al
Assad.
How was
Syria affected?
• More than half of Syria's population, of
22 million, have fled their homes. Some
are internally displaced, many of
them living in camps, while another are
registered as refugees abroad.
Neighbouring Lebanon, Jordan and
Turkey, have struggled to cope with one
of the largest refugee exoduses in recent
history. One million Syrian refugee
children have been born in exile.
