FINDINGS
1. The result reveals that the majority of respondents fall within the age bracket classified as adults.
This indicates that the survey primarily captured the opinions and perspectives of individuals who
have reached a stage of life marked by maturity and potentially a broader range of experiences. In
terms of gender, it is noteworthy that the majority of respondents are males. Moreover, a significant
portion of the respondents were identified as being married. This civil status information may provide
insights into the perspectives of married individuals who often have family-related responsibilities and
long-term commitments to the community, which may affect their attitudes towards the development
of the boardwalk. Finally, a significant finding regarding the educational attainment of the
respondents was the prevalence of elementary graduates among them. This suggests that a substantial
portion of the respondents may have limited formal education beyond elementary school. This may
influence their ability to comprehend and express opinions on complex development matters.
FINDINGS
2. The impact of boardwalk development on San Vicente Olango Island is certainly significant, with a
broad range of economic, cultural, social, and environmental aspects. Economically, the Boardwalk
has functioned as an economic engine for local businesses, creating substantial revenues and job
opportunities and improving the island's financial stability. Culturally, it has become the center of
attention for the preservation and celebration of local traditions, instilling a sense of community pride
and longevity. Socially, the Boardwalk encourages a sense of community and inclusivity by providing
a notable gathering point for residents as well as tourists. Furthermore, environmentally, effective
sustainability measures and conservation efforts have been vital, making it a model for eco-friendly
development and ensuring the preservation of the island's natural beauty and biodiversity for future
generations. To summarize, the Boardwalk Development has made a great impact on all of these
aspects, developing San Vicente Olango Island in numerous ways.
FINDINGS
3. Respondents from San Vicente, Olango Island, encountered some common problems. The first is
the lack of support at the national level for tourism, which results in an immense barrier that restricts
access to important resources and national recognition. The demotivated local community towards
implementation presents a significant impediment, emphasizing the value of community participation
and motivational endeavors. Subsequently, the lack of financial support from the local government
compounds the development of financial constraints that limit its potential. Furthermore, the lack of
safety and security measures contributes to this problem, placing both tourists and residents at risk.
Finally, the lack of cooperation and coordination among stakeholders escalates problems, emphasizing
the absolute necessity for comprehensive, collaborative strategies to effectively address such multiple
challenges and acknowledge the entire potential of the San Vicente boardwalk development.
FINDINGS
4. According to the study, the influence of the demographic profile in terms of age on the impact of
boardwalk development in San Vicente, Olango Island, reveals significant relationships with cultural
impact. This emphasizes the importance of local attitudes and behaviors in influencing tourists'
experiences on the boardwalk. In a similar manner, individuals' educational attainment appears to
have a significant relationship, showing that differing educational attainment influences the perception
of the economic impact of boardwalk development to oversee tourism in a sustainable manner in
order to balance economic benefits with environmental and social considerations. However, the
profile in terms of gender, civil status, particular age, and educational characteristics demonstrate no
significant relationship with the impact of boardwalk development in San Vicente, Olango Island.
This demonstrates that, in this study, demographic characteristics have no significant impact and are
not important indicators of the impact of boardwalk development in San Vicente on Olango Island.
