Your suggestions from
Term 2
FT period – Tuesday, 25 July 2023
On 4 May 2023, all classes took part in
the Inter-Class Safety Challenge Part 1

2
Today, the Environmental & Safety Champions with the support of their FTs will share :

1) what your suggestions were and

2) how your suggestions have played a part in making subtle improvements.

3
What you had to say…

Top 3 hazards (70%) were related to:

1. slippery or wet floors (50%),

2. the 2.4km running route (10%), and
3. electrical hazards (10%).

4
• Students demonstrated a commendable level of hazard awareness,
effectively identifying common safety risks within the school premises.

• Students provided valuable and insightful suggestions to address the

hazards.

• Suggestions from students were carefully considered and when

implemented, they will benefit students, teachers and staff in the school.

Floors (Slippery or Wet Floors, Split or Uneven Level
Flooring)
Issues Students’ Suggestions
• Slippery or Wet floors  Use anti-slip tiles
• Split level – corridor of Block C and the floor  Put up “wet floor” warning signage
at the garden

Locations Operations Team

• Central staircase (G Block)
 Use of anti-slip products – treatments, tapes or coatings.
• Washing bay (Canteen)
• Toilets
• Drain covers
• Pathway outside football field
• Corridor along Block C
• Water cooler areas

8
Warning signs of potential hazards – using
yellow paint and safety signage.

Use of equipment involving heat
Issues Students’ Suggestions
• Accidentally touching the hot glue at the hot  Wearing of cloth gloves
glue gun station.
• Hot oven
Operations Team
• Gloves are readily available in both the Design &
Technology (D&T) and Food Labs. It is
mandatory for students to utilize them when
Locations operating the hot glue gun or oven. (See next
• D&T Lab slide)
• Food Lab  Teachers should emphasize and reiterate this
message to students during their lessons.
