POINT
LOCATOR
• Group the class into four groups. Each group will
receive a task card, pushpins, and yarn.
• ·Out of the coordinates, each group shall locate the
points or ordered pairs on the graphing board using
the pushpins.
• ·After locating all the points, each group shall connect
the points by tying the yarn to the pushpins.
• ·The graphing board will be posted and combined on
the white board by the leaders to form a shape
according to the given pattern
QUESTION:
How would you locate the coordinates?

What shape have you formed using those

coordinates?

Does the graph represent a function or not?

DEFINE
LIMITS
• In Mathematics, a limit is defined as a value
that a function approaches the output for the
given input values
• Limits are important in calculus and
mathematical analysis and used to define
integrals, derivatives, and continuity.
• It is used in the analysis process, and it
always concerns about the behaviour of the
function at a particular point.
TAKE A
LOOK AT
THE GRAPH
Let us consider a real-valued function
“f” and the real number “c”, the limit is
normally defined as:

When the graph of both sides go in the

same direction, its limit exists; otherwise, it
will be written as "Does Not Exist/DNE."
EXAMPLE 1
• Find the nearest value of 4 as x approaches it from the left and
right sides then construct a table of value.
PRESENTING
GRAPH
Conclusion: Notice
when as x approaches 4,
both side of f(x)
approaches 6, therefore
EXAMPLE 2
• Given the piecewise function
PRESENTING
GRAPH
Conclusion: Notice that when the left
side of an equation as x approaches 2,
the f(x) approaches 3. While the right
side of an equation as x approaches 2,
the f(x) is approaches -2. The both side
has different direction therefore
LET'S TRY
Evaluate limit from a graph

= 2.5

= DNE

= 2.5
GROUP
ACTIVITY
• With the same group, each group will receive a task
card, activity sheets, cartolina and colored pens to do
the 10 – minutes activity.

• Given the equation f (x) = 1/x , each group will

complete the table of values and graph it in a Cartesian
plane

ANSWER
KEYS
QUESTION:
What happens to the function f (x) = as x approaches if:
• 0 from the left?
• 0 from the right?
• What is the ?
ANSWER
KEYS
What happens to the function f (x) = as x approaches if:
• 0 from the left? Going to negative infinity
• 0 from the right? Going to positive infinity
• What is the ? Does Not Exist or DNE
SUMMARY
• The main point of limits is like predicting
where a function is going as you get really,
really close to a specific point. It’s about
figuring out the value a function is getting
closer to without actually reaching that point
• We can encounter mathematical notation
related to limits
