“A REENACTMENT
OF A LEGENDARY
EVENT” ACTIVITY
When the ten Bornean datus fled to
the Philippines, they approached
Datu Marikudo to discuss the
purchase of the island of Panay. The
payment or condition for the
purchase was a salakot made of
pure gold – golden salakot.
To these days, the salakot is an
emblem of Filipino nationalism.
With the same four groups earlier, you are going to
re-enact and role play the event of how the Island
of Panay was purchased with this golden salakot.
Use the first conditionals. You may recreate or add
the conditions of Datu Marikudo before he agrees
to give the island.
