Training on Operation of Cutting,

Matching & Inspection Machine

Cutting, Matching & Inspection Machine
Operation
Pre-Requisite

Following Measurement should be taken before starting of Printing

Process
 Clear the previous product remaining.
 Clean Cutting/Inspection machine with IPA (70%).
 Line clearance should be awarded by QA Personnel.
Line Clearance
Before the starting of process line clearance should be confirmed by the QA during line
clearance following parameters should be checked
 There should be no traces of previous product in:
•Area
•Equipment, Scoop, Cabinet
•Containers
•Vibrator
•Sieves
•Cutting Machines (A & B)
•Inspection Machine
•Weighing Balance
 Container & machine should be properly labelled with identification label.
 Area, equipment, containers & machine should be cleaned.
 Log books should be maintained.
Approved BMR Should be available.
Line Clearance
 Personnel should wear clean uniform, gloves & mask.
 Temperature & humidity should be in limit i.e. 15-30°C & 35-65%RH
 Manometer should be calibrated
Line clearance must be awarded by QA Personnel.
Cutting Machine Operation
• Before Starting the operation, check the temperature of cutting machine is between
80-90 °C and water level of cutting machine.
• Run the empty cutting machine for trial to ensure that cutting machine operated
normally.
• Cap and body transferred from molding machine automatically.
• Wear mask & gloves and run the machine.
• During machine operation operator of the machine check the in-process parameter
and record the parameter in in-process sheets (BMR).
• If there is any defects, the operator shall rectify the problem or inform the
maintenance department to solve the problem. When the cutting machine is
running, there must not jerk, to avoid damage to the machine.
• Weigh the cutting rework material labelled the material and send it to rework store
to ensure the balance of material at end of every batch.
In-Process Monitoring

 The machine operator check the weight and length of 100 caps and 100
body as mentioned in BMR and confirm the weight and length of cap and
body with internal specification chart. If there is any deviation with internal
specification chart the operator will rectify the problem.
 The operator check the smooth cutting of capsules if there is any rough
cutting or hair cutting then operator rectify the problem.
 Operator also check the cap & body defect (Rough edge & spots).
 From time to time operator of cutting machine clean the blade of machine
and check the blade to avoid any breakdown.
Precautions

 Clean time to time cutting machine blade.

 Collect intact blade after use.
 Monitor & Change blade from time to time.
 Check the water level.
Matching Machine Operation
• Start the machine after confirming that it is in normal condition.
• After cutting cap & body capsules transferred automatically from cutting machines A
& B to Matching machine.
• Capsules transferred automatically via vacuum pipelines.
• During matching operation, operator check the quality of the capsules through in
process checks.
• Unqualified capsules are removed and collected separately.
• The qualified pre-joined capsules are sieved and are transferred automatically to
automatic inspection machine thought feeder.
• After the completion of operation, capsules are shifted to inspection post via
automatic vacuum pipeline.
In-Process Monitoring

 Check whether capsules lock according to the requirement. Capsules

should be lock at pre-joint location.
 Measure the pre-joined & joined length of the capsules which should meet
the defined specifications and record the length of pre-joined and joined
length on in-process sheet (BMR).
 Check the weight of 100 capsules and record the weight on in-process sheet
(BMR).
 In case of any deviation operator rectify the problem or inform to
maintenance personnel to maintained the machine.
Inspection Machine Operation
• Put the capsules into the hopper, turn on the inspection machine, open capsules
gate, make he capsules flow slowly to the inspection machine, the machine does
automatic inspection and pick out the unqualified capsules.
• After the inspection, the qualified capsules collect in the polybag and unqualified
capsules are collected in rejection bucket, weighed separately, and mention in BMR.
• Transfer the qualified capsules to the transfer area for next process and transfer
unqualified capsules to the rejection room.
In-Process Monitoring
 The operator check the capsules form time to there should be no mixing of
different color during inspection.
 The operator check the following defects during inspection:
• Size of cap and body
• Bubbles
• Split capsules
• Pin Hole
• De-shape
• Spot
• Improper cutting
• Pinched Capsules
If there is any deviation found operator rectify the problem or intmate the
engineering staff for maintenance the machine
